In Matthew, chapter 7, Jesus told the parable of the wise man who built his house on the rock. When the rains came and the winds blew the house did not fall down because it had its foundation on the rock. We are building a house for orphaned and abandoned boys in Sri Lanka. The Hopeful Hearts Foundation is requesting your help! We are collecting blessing bag items for orphaned children in Afghanistan. These bags will be passed out to the children of the Aschiana School in the village of Barack Aub by a mission team for Christmas. These children have been orphaned by war in their country with either one or both parents having been killed. They may have just been separated and neither the child nor the parents know the whereabouts of the other. There are a few spots left for this years’ trip to deliver Christmas gifts to orphans in Simferopol, Ukraine. Travel dates are December 27th through January 3rd. Hopeful Hearts in 2008 opened its third transition home in Ukraine. The first two homes were for girls, but this one was for the boys. The three transition homes help prevent children from living on the streets by housing selected children who have “graduated” from a traditional orphanage. Although “graduation” typically occurs before age 17, orphan children are often released to the streets at much younger ages.
