Hopeful Hearts needs your help! We have over 200 Kroger cards in circulation, but only about 25 are currently being used by our supporters. If you have one of our Kroger cards, please us it! As you know, Hopeful Hearts receives 4% of every dollar loaded onto the card. Even if you haven’t used the card in a while, if the card has any balance on it, it can be reloaded and used and we will get the “free” money. If your current card does not have a balance on it, it has probably expired and we can get you a new one.

Just think, if everyone put $100 on their card this month, Hopeful Hearts would receive $800! That’s 200 x $100 = $2000 X 4% = $800! That is enough money to feed an orphanage that we support in Ukraine for an entire month! Fantastic! So would you please consider using the card? It will be a blessing to many.

If you ever have an questions regarding your card or getting a new one, please do not hesitate to call Trip Pottinger!

In Matthew, chapter 7, Jesus told the parable of the wise man who built his house on the rock. When the rains came and the winds blew the house did not fall down because it had its foundation on the rock.

We are building a house for orphaned and abandoned boys in Sri Lanka. This house will be built on the rock of Jesus Christ. These young boys are being rescued off the streets and are being taught about Jesus. But they need a house.

While in Sri Lanka we visited where the boys are currently living and words cannot begin to describe the conditions. One of the boys took us to his room, he was so proud of such humble surroundings. We were feeling sorry for him until he said, “This is a great room…but the best part of this room is that this is where I found Jesus”.

We need $50,000 to build a new house for these boys and we need your help. We are asking that this offering be over and above your regular giving to Hopeful Hearts. Please prayerfully consider giving a donation. Online donations are safe and easy. Every penny you send will go to Sri Lanka to further God’s kingdom there.

Latest NewsLetter
(If the above link does not work, copy/paste into your browser.)

You know. . . . I really am a bit confused! I honestly never prayed the prayer of Jabez from First Chronicles 4:9. I am sure most of you are familiar with this prayer . . . “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my territory!”. Well this year God is enlarging the territory of Hopeful Hearts.

In May Chris Diehl, Melissa Hough and myself found ourselves on the Hopeful Hearts version of “The Amazing Race.” In 12 days we traveled from Louisville to Ukraine to Sri Lanka to Myanmar and back to Louisville and I am quite sure that my heart will never be the same again.

At the beginning of this adventure called Hopeful Hearts Ukraine seemed like such a stretch out of my comfort zone but the old saying “you ain’t seen nothin yet!” truly applies to where I feel convicted that God is calling us to go. I think too often we decide what we want to do and ignore what God is calling us to do. Maybe instead of making our own plans and then asking God to bless them, we should find out what God’s plan is and seek to obey Him even if its not easy, simple, comfortable or familiar. I am convinced that God is calling Hopeful Hearts to the children of Sri Lanka and Myanmar. These two countries are definitely not easy, simple, comfortable or convenient but they are where God wants us to be.

The trip was hot . . . . the food was difficult . . . . the economic and religious oppression was evident in both countries but as crazy as it sounds I felt God’s love and His presence among those beautiful little children like I rarely feel it here in my own country. Little dirty barefoot children stood and sang of Jesus and His love like you seldom hear it here. In our worship we sing of “joy unspeakable that won’t go away” and on this trip I witnessed first hand that joy alive and well in people who had nothing else to be joyful about.

Hopeful Hearts has a deep compassion for the lost, the last, the littlest and the least. Please join with us as we put feet to the prayer of Jabez and hopefully your heart will be touched and leap with the overwhelming joy that comes from getting involved and knowing that even though it might seem crazy to the world sharing God’s love is exactly what life is all about.

The Hopeful Hearts Foundation is requesting your help!

We are collecting blessing bag items for orphaned children in Afghanistan. These bags will be passed out to the children of the Aschiana School in the village of Barack Aub by a mission team for Christmas.

These children have been orphaned by war in their country with either one or both parents having been killed. They may have just been separated and neither the child nor the parents know the whereabouts of the other. The annual blessing bags give a bright spot of cheer in the lives of these little people who really have no hope. Would you prayerfully consider helping to bring joy to a little one who has nothing?

The deadline for the bags is September 15th. The items can be dropped off at Heick Hester and Associates located at 408 Blankenbaker Parkway, Louisville, KY or contact a HHF Board Member and we will make arrangements for pick-up.

If you are unable to donate items at this time, but would still like to help, please consider giving a tax-deductible contribution to support this effort.

The following items are needed:

Small Toy for a girl (similar in size of Polly Pocket dolls)
Dark Colored Socks (no whites please) Child sizes: Medium and Large
Small Stuffed Animal (Beanie baby size)

REMEMBER: This is a wonderful activity for Scout Troops/School Classroom projects/Sunday School classes/Workplace Community Service projects/Home Economics Clubs/Junior League/Sorority and Fraternity Projects/etc.

Please refer all questions to Kathy Drane at babylady290@aol.com or (502)254-2813.
